Why is the Ascade® Door Barricading Device a Superior Defense?
Visual Deterrent
The mere presence of the Ascade® Active Shooter Barricade unit hanging adjacent to an access door sends a message to would-be intruders that facility/school may not be as soft target as it would otherwise appear.
Intruder Detection
Upon initial intruder detection, or facility-wide sounding of an intruder security alarm, ANYONE can EASILY activate any Ascade® Active Shooter Barricade.
Barricade Engagement & Alarm Activation
With minimal force complaint with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 (ADA 2008), anyone can engage the Ascade® Active Shooter Barricade SIMULTANEOUSLY sounding a facility-wide alarm and IMEDIATELY summoning FIRST RESPONDERS.
Redeployment
If would-be victims are left outside of a barricaded door, an attendant on the safe side of the door can easily disengage the Ascade® barricade momentarily allowing trapped would-be victims’ refuge.
Emergency Response
Occupants shelter in place behind the Ascade® barricade and await rescue. After the Active Shooter Event has been cleared, first responders can search and rescue sheltered occupants by several different means.
Emergency Rescue
If necessary, first responders, faculty and other authorized personnel can enter a lock-downed room by means of an override mechanism.
